Fee increase for Medaglia d’Oro

Darley’s Northern America has lifted the northern service fee for Medaglia d’Oro to $150,000 fee in 2016.

Medaglia d’Oro (El Prado) has sired 14 Group 1 winners and he heads the roster of 14 stallions at Jonabell Farm in Kentucky after standing for $125,000 last year.

Sheikh Mohammed purchased him in June 2009 shortly after champion filly Rachel Alexandra won the G1 Kentucky Oaks and G1 Preakness Stakes.  He had previously been based at Stonewall Farm in Kentucky.

Medaglia d’Oro won 8 of his 17 starts and earned $5.75 million with Group 1 triumphs in the 2002 Travers Stakes, 2003 Whitney Handicap and 2004 Donn Handicap.

He has five offspring nominated for the Breeders’ Cup this weekend – Songbird (Juvenile Fillies), Mshawish (Mile), Sentiero Italia (Filly and Mare Turf), Yahilwa (Distaff) and Valid (Dirt Mile).

“It is very rewarding for us to see such tremendous success this year for breeders who have used our stallions,” Darley’s Darren Fox said.  “This year alone, we have seen more than 75 stakes winners and consignors have realized well over $50 million at the sales.”
