Fastnet stars at the Gold Coast Magic Millions

Yearlings by champion sire Fastnet Rock will star at the Gold Coast Magic Millions and the following colts and fillies caught the eye when Coolmore staffers did their pre-sale inspections around the Hunter Valley.

Amarina Farm – Lot 532 – Filly out of G2 winner Dynamic Love
This one’s a full sister to Ramu River who debuts at Canterbury on Friday night.  She cost Adrian Nichol $380,000 at the Inglis Easter yearling sale and has come through some teething problems with a good barrier trial win a fortnight ago at Randwick.

Broadwater Thoroughbreds – Lot 343 – Colt out of Listed winner Volcada
Very good-quartered colt whose dam is by Nureyev’s son Stravinsky and is from the family of G1 winners Unearthly and Invest.

Coolmore Stud – Lot 20 – Filly from G3 winner Legally Bay (Snippets)
Among the very best on pedigree and type.  Full sister to G2 winner Jolie Bay.

Coolmore Stud – Lot 25 – Colt from Listed winner Liberty Rose (Royal Academy)
Dam has already produced a stakes winning male and a G2 placed filly by Fastnet’s paternal half-brother Redoute’s Choice.  A yearling with plenty of size, scope, strength and he possesses a particularly good ‘action’ and will be high on the lists of all buyers.

Coolmore Stud – Lot 609 – Filly out of Listed winner Hennessy Waltz
Quite possibly the best and most athletic Fastnet filly.  Fastnet Rock’s fabulous G1 Guineas winning filly Irish Lights is out of a mare by Hennessy and this particular filly, like Irish Lights, has a great head, very good forearm and gaskin, very good hindquarter and a good action.

Glastonbury Farm – Lot 188 – Filly from Woodman mare Rock Diva
Bred on the same cross that produced top-class racehorses and now stallion prospects Rothesay and Stryker.  This yearling filly is out of a full sister to the dam of Rothesay himself, from the immediate family of G1 winners Canny Lass, Canny Lad, Camarena, Camarilla and Sepoy.

Glastonbury Farm – Lot 512 – Filly out of Dehere mare De Lollies
Bred on the same cross as one of Fastnet’s most talented sons in We’re Gonna Rock.  The dam of this filly won the Listed AJC Gimcrack Stakes and is a full sister to G1-placed NZ 2YO St Fevre.

Newgate Farm – Lot 611 – Filly out of the Storm Cat line mare Hides
Mouth-watering pedigree that offers the same sireline cross as Newgate’s pride and joy, Fastnet’s son Foxwedge.  This filly, like so many by Fastnet, boasts a very good hindquarter along with a very good ‘action’.  And she’s a three-quarter sister to G1 winner Scintillation and G2 winner Shania Dane.

Widden Stud – Lot 367 – Colt out of dual G1 winner Zarita
The sole Fastnet Rock from Widden at Magic Millions but what a yearling colt he is – quite the stand-out of the draft!  Closely related to G1 Hong Kong star Joy and Fun with as strong a forearm and hindquarter as they come.

Willow Park – Lot 96 – Filly out of Mt. Livermore mare Mountain Legacy
Bred on the same cross as Born To Rock and Lovemelikearock, with that trademark hindquarter and pelvic length that is surely the key to Fastnet’s legacy.
