Undeniably chalked up another stakes win for Fastnet Rock in the LR Christmas Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on Wednesday.
The Coolmore Stud champion has now sired 40 individual stakes winners since Wanted opened his black-type account in the G3 Kindergarten Stakes at Randwick in March 2009.
Fastnet Rock is leading the defence of his Australian title with earnings of $4.97 million after Boxing Day. Lonhro ($4.65m) is next followed by Montjeu ($4.58m), Commands ($4.33m) and Redoute’s Choice ($3.89m).
Undeniably (6g Fastnet Rock – Suggestive by Al Hareb) is trained by Mark Kavanagh after being sold for $360,000 by Turangga Farm at the 2008 Inglis Easter yearling sale. The lightly raced six year-old has always shown ability in a career peppered with lengthy spells due to varying injuries and illnesses.
“He went down with travel sickness in Adelaide this time last year,” stable rep Merv Harvey recalled. “We almost gave up on him a couple of times but he’s tough.
“He’s a big monster of a horse and he’s a very happy horse at the moment. He used to charge in his races last time in but he settles now and really hit the line today.”
Undeniably’s dam Suggestive also foaled G1 VRC Emirates Stakes winner Sky Cuddle (Snippets) plus the stakes winners Highly Recommended (Fastnet Rock) and Sky Love (Octagonal).
