Fastnet Rock returns to Coolmore Ireland

Fastnet Rock is about to be crowned Australia’s champion sire for 2014-15 and Coolmore Stud has announced he will cover a northern book at its County Tipperary headquarters in 2016.

Australia’s champion sire from 2011-12 has a second title in sight with earnings of $10.10 million this season.  He holds an unbeatable lead over second-placed Exceed And Excel ($8.86 million).

The 13-year-old son of Danehill shuttled to Ireland between 2010 and 2014 but stayed in Australia this year.  His first Irish-conceived crop, now four, contains the stakes performers Fascinating Rock, Cougar Mountain, Palace and Table Rock.

His reputation has risen this year with his three-year-old crop yielding Group 1 winning fillies Diamondsandrubies (English Oaks), Qualify (Pretty Polly Stakes) and Tattersalls Millions 3YO Trophy winner Cape Clear Island.
