Express lane to Hong Kong

Champion trainer John Moore has stocked up for the Hong Kong season with the addition of Irish stakes winner Dunboyne Express.

Dunboyne Express (4c Shamardal – Love Excelling by Polish Precendent) joins the annual exodus of European gallopers to the Far East.  The Kevin Prendergast trained colt was a G3 winner of the Anglesey Stakes and Irish 2000 Guineas Trial last year.

Owner-breeder John Connaughton accepted an undisclosed offer from Tiranga Bloodstock this week.  He raced the colt after refusing a 48,000gns bid at the 2009 Tattersalls October yearling sale.

The sale follows that of stakes-winning two-year-olds Frederick Engels (Iceman) and Caledonian Spring (Amadeus Wolf) to Hong Kong in recent weeks. “He is a very nice horse and we have been tracking him for almost a year,” Tiranga’s Peter Hickey said.  “With the poor prize-money in Britain, it’s no surprise to see horses heading to Hong Kong, America and Australia to further their careers.”
