Express delivery at Mungrup Stud

Within 10 minutes of winning the WA first-season sires’ premiership, Danehill Express claimed another first when his colt from Vain Express arrived at Mungrup Stud.

Mungrup Stud is the busiest nursery in the west and the Danehill Express – Vain Express colt is the first of 200 foals that will be delivered between now and Xmas.

Vain Express (Kenvain) is an unraced daughter of LR Raconteur Stakes winner Surrender To Me.  Her owner Bill Rigg goes back a long way in racing having raced champion galloper Dulcify.

Danehill Express ran out a comfortable winner for the WA first-season title after brilliant filly The Danehill Rose opened his account at Ascot in February.  He clinched the award after Express Service bolted at Belmont a fortnight before season’s end.

Danehill Express sired the winners of $222,650 to defeat Husson Lightning ($178,135) and Vital Equine ($166,000) for the Sunspeed title.  He finished 7th nationally.

The Mungrup resident is by breed-shaping sire Danehill from G1 AJC Oaks winner Savana City.  He will stand for an $8,800 (inc gst) fee this year.
