Explosive winner by Alfred Nobel

Lynward Park Stud stallions Trade Fair and Alfred Nobel sired a half-dozen winners between them over the weekend.

Trade Fair was represented by five winners; Carney & Fair Haze (Pinjarra), Milly’s Gift & Portrade (Europe) and Proceedwithcaution (Belmont Park).

Alfred Nobel sired his second winner when Explosive Lady lived up to her name in the Ladies Day Stakes (1000m) at Nottingham on Saturday.  She scored by over four lengths for the Market Avenue Racing Club and trainer Karl Burke’s wife Elaine.

Explosive Lady (2f Alfred Nobel – My Girl Lisa by With Approval) appeared one of the most forward in the paddock before her debut and looked a cut above her rivals in transit.

“This powerfully made daughter of first-season sire Alfred Nobel travelled kindly off the pace but once the gap appeared, took the race by the scruff of the neck and motored clear under hands and heels urging,” Racing Post reported.  “She will come on a bit for the experience, too.”

Burke bought Explosive Lady for 15,000 euros (AUD 21,405) at the Tattersalls Ireland yearling sale last September.  She is a half-sister to winners by Point Given,  Encosta de Lago, Sky Mesa, Dylan Thomas and Medaglia d’Oro.

Alfred Nobel (Danehill Dancer) has shuttled to Lynward Park since 2011.  He’s having a well-deserved spell this spring but will be back on board at the Bullsbrook property next year.

Alfred Nobel’s second southern crop will be popular at next year’s yearling sales if there are more winners like Explosive Lady in the pipeline in Europe this year.

Sunspeed breeders with Alfred Nobels eligible for the 2015 Perth Magic Millions include Siobhan Campbell (Bellbridge Park), Graham Daws (Dawson Stud), Rob Gray (Rangeview Stud), Kevin Berry (Kingston Thoroughbreds), John Andrew (Alwyn Park), Steve Wallace (Blackwatch Stud), Leslie Rintoul (Parkview Thoroughbreds), Norm Burren (Clare Downs Stud), Trish des Bouvrie (Quanah Park), Tony Bartlett (Milfordale Stud) and Alan Olive (Gold Front Thoroughbreds).
