Excellent Art sold to India

Coolmore Stud has sold Excellent Art to stand at Poonawalla Stud in India.

Excellent Art began shuttling to Australia in 2008 – his oldest southern stock are three year-olds – and there have been 15 winners in that first crop to date.  The sole stakes winner among them is last-start NZ Gore Guineas winner Absolut Excelencia.

A son of Pivotal, he has been more successful with two Irish bred crops.  There have been six stakes winners in Europe headed by Hazel Lavery (G3 Newbury St Simon Stakes) and Experience (G3 Curragh Grangecon Stud Stakes).

Excellent Art was a Group 1 winner of the 2007 St. James’s Palace Stakes and he was also runner-up to Kip Deville in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Mile later that year.

Coolmore Stud advertised Excellent Art as part of its 2012 Hunter Valley roster at an $8,800 (inc gst) service fee, however, a decision was later made not to send him out here for a fifth southern season.
