Excelebration relocates to Ballydoyle

Exceed And Excel’s European star Excelebration is about to be transferred to Aidan O’Brien at Ballydoyle.

Excelebration (3c Exceed and Excel – Sun Shower by Indian Ridge) was trained by Marco Botti for owner Giuliano Manfredini before Coolmore clinched the deal.  He changed hands but remained with Botti to score dazzling G2 victories in the German 2000 Guineas and Hungerford Stakes at Newbury.

His G1 breakthrough came in the Prix du Moulin at Longchamp in September and he was also runner-up to Frankel in the G1 British Champions Mile at Ascot in October.

Excelebration (Ire) was four lengths adrift of the wonder colt but still returned a rating of 129 at Ascot.  That’s good enough to have won all bar two of the previous 10 renewals of the Champions Mile.

“It’s been an incredible year and I would like to thank my staff for all their excellent work,” Botti said this week shortly after Excelebration was ruled out of the G1 Hong Kong Mile.  “We have had some wonderful days with him, especially in Paris, and it’s only natural that we will be sad to see him go.

“But Coolmore have been kind enough to send me two really nice Danehill Dancer yearling colts to train for them next year.”

Excelebration was a 20,000 pounds buy for Manfredini at the 2009 Doncaster August yearling sale.  His second dam Miss Kemble is a half-sister to G1 Irish Oaks winner Princess Pati (Top Ville).

Exceed and Excel (Danehill) shuttles to Darley’s Dalham Hall Stud for a 12,000 pounds service fee.
