English Channel colt tops Day 12 at Keeneland

A first-crop filly by 2007 Breeders’ Cup Turf champion English Channel topped Day 12 at Friday’s session of Keeneland’s September yearling sale.  Fleetwood Bloodstock purchased the filly for $110,000 from the Bluegrass Thoroughbreds draft.

The session topper is out of the French bred Linamix mare Miarixa and is from the family of French Group winners Mister Sicy and Manninamix.

Next on the leader board was a $60,000 Spanish Steps colt out of the Forty Niner mare Lissa.  He is a half brother to the stakes winners Catalissa and Lissa’s Star.

Friday’s session saw 278 yearlings sell for $3.15 million for an average of $11,349 and a median of $8,000.  The September Sale continues through to Sunday.
