El Cambio culled in Gulf

Darley’s former Australian stakes winner El Cambio has been sold for the equivalent of AUD 1,040 in Dubai.

El Cambio (Aus) was purchased by Rashid Bouresly at the Emirates HIT Sale for 4,000 dirhams earlier this month.  The veteran gelding was one of six gallopers bought by the former Kuwaiti horseman whose horses run in the distinctive orange colours of the family-owned Bouresly Racing Syndicate.

El Cambio (Commands) was a G2 winner of the AJC Royal Sovereign Stakes and VRC Gilgai Stakes in 2008.  He was shipped off-shore the following year to join Sheikh Mohammed’s international racing operations but failed to regain his best form in England or the Gulf.

Bouresly, 62, has trained big-race winners Baldaquin (Jebel Ali Mile), Conceal (President’s Cup) and Star Crowned who was G1 placed in the Golden Shaheen before finishing fifth in the KrisFlyer Sprint at Kranji

After starting his career in Kuwait, Bouresly had subsequent stints training in Qatar, Turkey and Lebanon before he was issued with a Dubai licence in 2003.
