Easy does it for Forster

Easy Running made amends for a narrow loss in the Magic Millions Guineas when he stormed home to win the LR Mick Dittman Plate (1000m) at Eagle Farm.

The Desleigh Forster trained galloper was disappointed for a run at the top of the straight but produced a dazzling sprint to nail Sydney visitor Didn’tcostalot (Danerich) by a short half head.

Easy Running (3g Easy Rocking – Melrose Gardens by Marju) had raced without any luck this season.  He lost the LR Gold Edition Stakes on protest in December and was then bloused out by Punch On the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas in January.

Easy Running was resuming from a 14 week spell on Saturday and Forster feared he was on the wrong end of another close finish.  “I didn’t think he got the photo,” Forster said.  “He would have been a good thing beaten.”

Forster said Easy Running would have his next run in the Gold Coast Guineas on May 5 prior to the Fred Best Classic and Queensland Guineas.  In the meantime, she will saddle up Adebisi in the G2 Victory Stakes next Saturday.  The Shovhog gelding is a last-start Listed winner of the Bribie Handicap.

The stablemates are both graduates of the Gold Coast Magic Millions.  Easy Running cost $16,500 from Wattle Brae Stud in 2010 and has now banked $398,500 for connections.

His dam Melrose Gardens is a Melbourne winning half sister to the French stakes winner Sangreal.  Her last two foals have been fillies by Choisir and Bernardini.
