Easter Sale Snitzels from Two Bays Farm

First-time vendor Two Bays Farm is sending two Snitzel fillies from Mornington to Sydney for the Inglis Easter Sale.

The Mornington Peninsula is re-establishing itself as a premier location for thoroughbreds and is now home to a number of leading breeders including Morning Rise, Musk Creek, Flinders Park and Tarcoola Stud.

“Its undulating hills, fertile soils and temperate climate, is ideally suited for breeding thoroughbreds and historically it was home to a strong industry,” Two Bays Farm owner Ross Ferris said.  “For a time though, grapes and vineyards took over – now the balance is swinging back.”

Ferris established Two Bays less than two years ago and appointed Tracey McCarthy as the Farm’s manager.  Formerly based at Sovereign Thoroughbreds in Western Australia, she sold Group 1 winners Eagle Regiment (El Moxie) and Moment of Change (Barely A Moment) at the 2009 and 2010 Perth Magic Millions.

Two Bays Farm currently has 20 broodmares including Group 1 performers Marheta and Ice Mist (USA) and plan to grow this number as the right stock becomes available.   “We look for young mares that are well related and track performed,” Ferris said.  “We’ve worked hard over the past few years to acquire a high quality band of mares and aim to build our breeding base to around 40 in the next five years.”
