Dubbo yearling sale average down 13%

The 2011 Dubbo yearling sale conducted by Peter Milling & Company returned disappointing figures on Sunday.  Of the 66 yearlings to go under the hammer, 47 were sold at a 71% clearance rate.  Turnover reached $213,500 at a $4,186 average which was down 13% from 2010.

Top price of $12,000 was paid for a Choisir – Smooth Enchanter colt offered by Ilala Stud.  His dam retired a maiden after 11 starts and she has been represented by the winning Honours List fillies Distinctive Gold and Smooth Honours.

Darley catalogued a dozen yearlings headed by a Commands – It’s Sydney filly that made $11,000.  Her dam is an unraced half-sister to G1 winning sprinter Sports (Zeditave).

At the lower end of the scale, 17 lots sold for $2,000 or less.
