Dowdstown Charlie delivers for Myboycharlie

Vinery freshman Myboycharlie sired his fifth Australian-bred winner when Dowdstown Charlie chimed in at Randwick on Saturday.

The David Payne trained gelding defeated the favourite Everage by a long head in the Liberty Underwriters Plate (1200m).  He had been placed at Rosehill and Randwick earlier this season prior to being gelded.

He holds a nomination for G1 J J Atkins Stakes (1600m) at Eagle Farm on June 8 but will head for a spell this week.  “I will tip him out now and bring him back for the spring,” Payne said.   “He wants a mile and we will get him up there next preparation.”

Dowdstown Charlie (2g Myboycharlie – Raindane by Danehill Dancer) was a $140,000 buy at the 2012 Gold Coast Magic Millions.  He’s the first foal out of a sister to Melbourne stakes performer Chinamora.  It’s the family of Group 1 performers Laisserfaire, Foreplay and Time Thief.

Myboycharlie will stand for a $16,500 (inc gst) fee at Vinery this year.  An Irish bred son of Danehill sire Danetime, he was named Champion French 2YO after scoring a G1 victory in the 2007 Prix Morny at Deauville.

Myboycharlie is currently covering his latest northern book at Haras du Mezeray in Normandy.  His first European winner arrived when Salai scored on debut in France on May 9.
