Makybe Diva’s daughter La Dolce Diva lit up the opening session of the Inglis Melbourne August Sale at Oaklands on Thursday.
Makybe owner Tony Santic bought the four year-old Fusaichi Pegasus mare for $300,000. She was unplaced in four outings for trainer Mark Kavanagh last year.
Santic sold La Dolce Diva as a yearling for $1.20 million at the 2010 Inglis Easter yearling sale. “We are pleased to be able to secure her and thus continue our relationship into another generation of the family,” Makybe manager Wayne Noorman said. “She will be sent to a top stallion in the Hunter Valley.”
Total receipts for the first of two sessions reached $976,250 at an average of $10,497. The clearance rate was 80%.
Other sales on Thursday included G3 winner Valentine Miss to Belmont Bloodstock for $155,000, Canadian born stakes performer Jive for $65,000 and well related four-year-old mare Intelligent for $58,000.
Friday’s second session of yearlings, unbroken and racing stock will be boosted by the unreserved dispersal of Wadham Park’s Racing Stable.
