Dick Turpin popular at Doncaster

Dick Turpin (Ire) had his first-crop yearlings change hands at the Doncaster Bloodstock Premier Sale last week.

The Mungrup Stud stallion shuttles from the English National Stud and started serving his third southern book today.  Amy Taylor of the English National Stud reports the yearlings returned solid results at Doncaster.  “They were a lovely looking bunch, “ she said.  “Very well balanced and all with good athletic walks.”

Dick Turpin covered 101 mares last year and his service fee remains at $8,800 (inc gst) fee in 2014.

His colt from Whirly Dancer (Danehill Dancer) made the equivalent of AUD 56,905 when purchased by trainer Kevin Ryan at Doncaster.

The colt is the dam’s first foal.  She was a five-length juvenile winner at Folkestone for Sir Henry Cecil and she returned at three to win again at Doncaster.  Family of Group 3 winners Ursa Major (Ireland) & Hawke’s Eye (Sth Africa).
