Artie Schiller has sired his 26th stakes winner courtesy of Daytona Grey’s clear-cut victory in the G3 R N Irwin Stakes (1100m) at Morphettville.
Daytona Grey booked a berth in the G1 Goodwood Hcp next month after storming home to score by more than two lengths. “The wet track helped,” trainer Leon Macdonald said on Saturday. “His form had been ordinary but he’s been working the house down.”
A $65,000 buy at the 2011 Adelaide Magic Millions for a syndicate headed by Harry Perks, he has won 9 times in 31 starts for over $368,000 in prizemoney.
Artie Schiller (USA) stands at Emirates Park Victoria and his latest stakes winner is one of five winners from Southern Rose (Unbridled’s Song). She has 2yo colt named Mail It In (Reset), a yearling filly by Wanted and is back in foal to Rebel Raider who is based at Wyndholm Park Stud.

Daytona Grey is bred on the same Artie Schiller – Mr Prospector cross that’s produced North American Group 1 winner We Miss Artie (ex Fusaichi Pegasus mare) and the USA stakes winners Slip And Drive, Dorsett and Miss Machiavelli who have either Carson City or Machiavellian as their maternal grandsire.
