Day 3 Keeneland January Sale – Top colt by Medaglia d’Oro

A Medaglia d’Oro colt brought a final bid of $350,000 to top Wednesday’s session of the Keeneland January Horses Sale.  Offered by Three Chimneys, he was purchased by agent Ben Glass.

The Kentucky-bred colt was produced by Bohemian Lady (Carson City) who was a G3 winner of the 2004 Cicada Stakes.  The dam is a half-sister to Darley’s G1 winning sire Any Given Saturday (Distorted Humor).

Medaglia d’Oro shuttles to Darley and his Day 3 star was knocked down 24 hours after Darley stallion Street Sence topped Day 2 with the filly that made $1.45 million.

Cosmo Girl (City Zip) was the most expensive broodmare on Wednesday making $190,000 to the bid of Stonestreet Thoroughbreds.  Campaigned by Chris Baccari, Cosmo Girl earned her biggest win in the LR Carousel Stakes at Oaklawn Park in March 2011.

Business remained strong throughout Day 3 in Kentucky with 227 horses trading for $4.95 million.  The average was up 35% to $21,823.  The sale runs through to Friday and full details can be viewed at:
