Daws redevelop Evergreen Lodge

West Australian based stud Evergreen Lodge is to be redeveloped back to its former glory by Graham and Chris Daws.

Situated in the state’s south-west at Myalup, Evergreen Lodge was the pride and joy of the late Vince Yovich.  It was an oasis of green paddocks that came at a considerable cost.

Vince always winced when the water bills arrived.

Pago Mystery and Zedrich stood at Evergeen and, after Vince died in 2005, Trade Fair (Zafonic) was based there before transferring to Lynward Park last year.

Graham and Chris Daws have been leading lights in the Perth racing and breeding industries since the 1980s.  They stood champion sire Bletchley Park at Dawson Stud before he moved to Lynward Park 2001.

Dawson Stud was based in Perth’s southern suburban fringe and it eventually made way for a housing estate.

“We heard Evergreen was on the market about four months ago,” Chris Daws told WAN journalist Robbie Edwards this week.  “We will prepare next year’s yearlings from here and, in the future, we might also stand a stallion.”

Evergreen will be renamed Dawson Stud but a memorial plaque or drive will be installed to honour Yovich.
