A timely stakes victory by Salamanca (NZ) in Saturday’s LR Champagne Stakes (1250m) has provided significant updates for a number of horses in NZ Bloodstock’s National Sale that starts on Wednesday.
The Sale kicks off with the weanling session and will include a half-brother to Salamanca by the in-form sire Darci Brahma. The colt, at Lot 6, will be offered by Gordon Cunningham’s Curraghmore Stud who has been the top vendor at the weanling session for the last seven years.
Salamanca is (2g Alamosa – Anca by Howbaddouwantit) is from his sire’s first crop and is his first stakes winner. The sire-son of O’Reilly has been represented by five individual two-year-old winners this season and saw his smart daughter Quintette finish second in the LR Welcome Stakes earlier in the season.
Curraghmore Stud will offer a draft of 22 weanlings by such sires as Any Suggestion, Darci Brahma, Encosta de Lago, Iffraaj, Makfi, Savabeel, Shocking, Showcasing and Thorn Park.
New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Weanling, Broodmare & Mixed Bloodstock Sale will be held at Karaka from this Wednesday, May 8 to Friday May 10 from 10am each day.
