Four horses are eligible for a lucrative Inglis bonus when Bendigo stages its first Premier Saturday meeting on March 17.
The Bendigo Guineas (1400m) will be worth $105,000 if the winner is nominated to the Inglis Race Series.
Strategic’s last start G2 MRC Autumn Classic winner Upbeat heads the quartet. Trainer Anthony Cummings has elected to chase the Inglis bonus to Bendigo en route to Scone for the $500,000 Inglis Guineas in May.
Pat Hyland’s lightly raced colt Shanghai Warrior (Elvstroem) has won three from five and couldn’t have been more impressive at Cranbourne last Friday night. The Guineas would be a windfall after he missed out on a run in the G1 Australian Guineas.
The Bendigo Guineas is one of three races remaining in the Inglis Race Series for current three-years-olds. Filling out the foursome eligible for the six-figure pay-day at Bendigo are recent Bendigo winner Black Bart (Testa Rossa) and the Mike Moroney trained Cranbourne winner Chabrier (Strada).
Remaining opportunities to earn rewarding Inglis Race Series prizemoney include the $50,000 Albury Guineas on March 23 followed by the $500,000 Scone Guineas on May 19.
