Crowded House to stand at Wattle Grove Stud

Wattle Grove Stud has made an early replacement for its former resident sires Helenus and Shellscrape.

Helenus died earlier this month and Shellscrape was taken out of service after his first foals were born without tails.  The Berrima property also stood Danehill sire Foreplay and G2 Royal Sovereign Stakes winner Master Harry (Magic Albert) last year.

Wattle Grove studmaster Ian Macpherson has announced G1 Racing Post Trophy winner Crowded House will join the roster in 2013.  He was last seen tailing off last in the G1 Godolphin Mile in March 2011.

Crowded House (7h Rainbow Quest – Wiener Wald by Woodman) was bred at Nottingham-based Car Colston Hall Stud and is out of a half-sister to G1 American Oaks winner Ticker Tape.  Another close relation is last year’s Champion European colt Reckless Abandon who was a Group 1 winner of the Middle Park Stakes and Prix Morny.

Crowded House was trained by Ben Cecil for a partnership that included J Paul Reddam and was also stakes placed in Dubai and USA.  His extended family includes Champion sires Storm Cat and Royal Academy.
