Country Reel transfers to Turkey

Former Darley shuttler Country Reel has been sold to stand at Karacabey Pension Stud in Turkey.  He was most recently based at Sheikh Mohammed’s Haras Du Logis in Normandy.

Country Reel (Danzig) scored on debut at Newmarket in August 2002 and followed up with a G2 victory in the Gimcrack Stakes at York.  He was trained by David Loder but failed to win again during the remainder of a 16 start career.

Country Reel (USA) shuttled down here for two seasons in 2006 & 2007 and there have been 43 Australian winners to date at an astronomical 77% strike-rate.  Regrettably, his only southern-bred black-type winner has been 2012 Warwick Farm Winter Challenge winner Spinnawitch.

Sheikh Mohammed sold his G1 Caulfield Cup winner All The Good to Turkey in 2010.  A son of Diesis, he stands at Cokay Stud near Istanbul.
