Count Me In to cover first mares in Victoria

A P Indy stallion Count Me In (USA) will cover his first book at Goulburn Valley Equine in Shepparton this year.

An eye-catching 16.3 hands stallion with four white legs and a baldy face, he will stand for a $6,000 (inc gst) fee.  The 11 year-old was unplaced at his only start.

Count Me In (A P Indy – Countess Diana by Deerhound) is probably the most uniquely bred son of A P Indy as he inbred 3×3 to the Buckpasser mare Lassie Dear.  She is the second dam of A P Indy and Emirates Park’s sire Eavesdropper and is also the third dam of Coolmore Stud shuttler Duke of Marmalade.

Lassie Dear’s Secretariat daughter Weekend Surprise is the mother of A P Indy, Eavesdropper and leading USA sire Summer Squall.  Another daughter Charming Lassie produced G1 winning racehorse and sire Lemon Drop Kid.

There hasn’t been a big exposure to A P Indy in Australia but it appears that Bernardini (Darley) and Congrats (Vinery) can provide him with a solid start in Australia.

A P Indy is inbred 4×3 to Bold Ruler and is free of Northern Dancer.  In North America, his sires include Pulpit and his son Tapit who commands a fee of $125,000 at Gainesway.  A P Indy stallions Malibu Moon and Malibu Magic sired this year’s Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks winners.
