Coolmore Stud retires Turbulent Descent

Champion filly Turbulent Descent has been retired by Coolmore Stud owner John Magnier.  Plans call for her to be mated with Giant’s Causeway.

Turbulent Descent (4f Congrats – Roger’s Sue by Forestry) scored her richest win in this year’s G1 Ballerina Stakes at Saratoga for Susan Magnier, Michael Tabor and Derrick Smith.  It was her first start for her new connections after being purchased from the Blinkers On Syndicate.

Turbulent Descentwas a G1 winner of the Hollywood Starlet as a two year-old and the G1 Santa Anita Oaks and G1 Saratoga Test Stakes at three.  Trained first by Mike Puype and then by Todd Pletcher, she exits racing with 8 wins from 14 starts and earnings of $1.21 million.

Bred in Florida by Ocala Stud, Turbulent Descent first changed hands for $160,000 at the 2010 Ocala April 2YO Sale.  Vinery champion Congrats sired her from Roger’s Sue who is closely related to Giant’s Causeway’s G1 winning filly Swift Temper.
