Fastnet Rock seldom takes second billing to any sire. The Australian champion only has 15 yearlings on offer at Karaka this week, half that of High Chaparral, but Coolmore Stud believes he will send home the sale-topper. And top the averages, too!
Coolmore’s latest newsletter suggests the Fastnet sale-topper is likely to come early enough in the sale on Monday, via Curraghmore Stud’s colt from Celebria (Peintre Celebre) catalogued as Lot 63 . The said colt is a magnificent half-brother to G1 winner Gathering and G3 winner Florentina, from the family of champion sire Redoute’s Choice.
“Man oh man – just wait until you see this colt!” Coolmore complimented. “He has plenty of size, scope and strength, with a good forearm (and forearm – canon ratio), good gaskin, good hind leg and good hindquarter – pelvic length. Add presence, athleticism and action and you have right there exactly what sale-toppers are made of!
“Nor doth one rock a mountain make and Fastnet has more to offer than just the potential sale-topper,” Coolmore continued. “Lot 252, again from Curraghmore and out of stakes-winning mare Miss Helga, is a half-brother to Hong Kong G1 winner Liberator who was sold by the same farm to the HKJC at the 2009 NZB Karaka Sale.”
