Colic complications claim Magical Miss

Group 1 winning mare Magical Miss has died at Yarraman Park.  The 14 year-old daughter of Danehill succumbed to a ruptured stomach.

“She was a terrific mare and it’s very sad to lose her,” Yarraman’s Harry Mitchell said.  “She some ongoing issues after colic surgery last year.”

Magical Miss was bred by Bart Cummings and won the 2001 Thousand Guineas – Victorian Oaks double for Perth based couple Bill and Rhonda Wyllie.  She had her first foal in 2005 and spent much of her breeding career at Yarraman Park.

Magical Miss has foaled the Melbourne stakes-placed winners Weasley (Shamardal) and Gioe (Hussonet).  Her current two year-old Mystical Miss (More Than Ready) won on debut at Ballarat last month.

Peter Moody trains Mystical Miss for Bob and Sandra Peters.  She was a $425,000 buy for the leading Perth owner-breeders at the 2012 Inglis Easter yearling sale.

Magical Miss foaled a Lonhro colt in the spring.
