Classic mission for Proliferate

Mick Price has always had a big opinion of Proliferate and the colt confirmed that rating with a Listed victory in the Myer Spring Fashion Stakes (1800m) on Thursday.

Proliferate (3c More Than Ready – Grand Prospect by Flying Spur) completed an unbeaten hat-trick at Flemington after priors at Geelong and Seymour.

He is a half-brother to G1 WATC Derby winner Grand Journey and Price will tip him out in readiness for the G1 AJC Derby in April.  “He’s a real staying type with a big, long neck,” Price said.  “He’s clean-winded and will be a lovely horse in the autumn if he starts concentrating.  He’s winning on raw ability now.”

Proliferate is raced by owner-breeder Steve McCann of Encompass Bloodstock along with Brendan Rudd.  McCann retained the colt after he was passed-in for $190,000 at the 2010 Inglis Easter yearling sale.

Vinery champion More Than Ready has already sired the G1 classic winners Benicio (2005 VRC Victoria Derby) and
Dreamaway (2011 WATC Derby) among 850 individual winners world-wide at a 71% strike-rate.

More Than Ready has two representatives at the Breeders’ Cup championships this weekend:

Friday
G2 BC Juvenile Fillies Turf
STOPSHOPPINGMARIA (2f More Than Ready – Skybox by Spend A Buck)

Saturday
G2 BC Turf Sprint
REGALLY READY (4g More Than Ready – Kivi by King Of Kings)
