Classic crop by Redoute’s Choice

The second day of the Scone carnival saw Seaside become the 19th stakes winner from that remarkable 2009 crop sired by Redoute’s Choice.

Seaside (4m Redoute’s Choice – Living Spirit by Hennessy) landed the G3 Dark Jewel Classic while Arrowfield Stud was still celebrating another award for its alpha-male earlier this week.

Redoute’s Choice was named Champion Sire at the Hunter Valley Thoroughbred Breeders Association Awards presentation in Scone on Wednesday evening.

Seaside became the 114th stakes winner by Redoute’s Choice at Scone and she led home an Arrowfield quinella in the Dark Jewel with a one-length decision over Unanimously (Not A Single Doubt).

World champion sprinter Lankan Rupee and classic winners Royal Descent and Wylie Hall head the 19 stakes winners from the 107 foals in Redoute’s Choice’s 2009 crop.  That’s a strike rate of 17% – better than his celebrated second crop (17 stakes winners from 121 foals – 14%).

Seaside boosted Redoute’s Choice’s season prizemoney to more than $9.52 million, almost $625,000 ahead of his son and barn mate Snitzel.

Redoute’s Choice (Danehill) is currently completing his second season at The Aga Khan’s Haras de Bonneval in France and will stand the 2014 Australian season at a fee of $110,000 (inc gst).
