Choistar transfers to Cangon Stud

Cangon Stud has announced Choistar will join the farm’s stallion roster for the next breeding season.

Choistar (Choisir – Sveldte by Star Watch) will stand for a $6,600 (inc gst) fee alongside Nothin’ Leica Dane, Recapitalize and Sea Battle at Dungog in NSW.

A five-length winner of the Listed AJC Fernhill Hcp (1600m) at Randwick, Choistar also defeated G1 winners Shoot Out and Captain Sonador and was runner-up to Onemorenomore, Tickets, Manhattan Rain and Graceful Anna in Group company.

His career was cut short to 10 starts after being galloped on in the Magic Millions 3YO Trophy won by Graceful Anna.  Commencing stud duties in Queensland, his first crop will be catalogued for the 2014 yearling sales.

Choistar is by Coolmore Stud champion Choisir and carries a 4×4 Biscay cross which give breeders an outstanding opportunity to tap into a strong colonial bloodline that’s proven as a source of tough, precocious stock that train on.

His dam Sveldte was a 12-time winner over distances ranging from 1200m up to 2050m.  She has produced four winners including the stakes-placed Smooth Groove and She’s A Rockstar.  Second dam Fresco (Shirley Heights) was trained by Dick Hern to win at Nottingham before Lloyd Williams exported her to Australia.
