Choisir colt tops Day 2 at Magic Millions QTIS Sale

A Choisir colt made $150,000 to top Day 2 of the 2012 Magic Millions QTIS Yearling Sale at the Gold Coast on Monday.

At the Wire manager Rodney Holt was delighted to have snared his top pick of the auction.  “He’s a really nice horse with a huge pedigree,” Holt said.  “For a November foal he’s very forward.

“He will join Jason McLachlan on the Sunshine Coast.  Jason trains the half sister Redsyn and I am a big fan of Seachange who is high up in his pedigree.”

Catalogued as Lot 368, the chestnut colt is from Mukaddamah mare Another Syn who is a half sister to G1 winners Seachange and Keepa Cruisin.

Another yearling to catch the eye of good judges was the Bernardini – Citichy colt (Lot 430) offered by Kalinga Valley Farm as agent for Stalwart Thoroughbreds.

The partnership of Cameron Cooke and Tony Gollan went to $100,000 to secure the quality youngster.  Underbidder Pat Duff trained the colt’s Magic Millions 3YO Trophy winning half brother Heart of the Citi.

The QTIS Sale turnover reached $7.01 million which was up $300,000 on last year when an extra 100 yearlings were catalogued.  The average was up 15% to $22,142 and the clearance rate increased 6 points to 77%.

“It’s been a very good sale by all measures,” Magic Millions Managing Director Vin Cox said.  “To see the average, gross and clearance all rise is very pleasing.  This sale has as much potential as any sale in the country.”
