Champagne result for Namsarai

Namsarai continued his bright start to the season with a half-length victory in the Champagne Bar Hcp (1550m) at Randwick on Wednesday.  He had also won at Canterbury on August 3.

Carrying the well known colours of John O’Neill’s Prime Thoroughbreds, he motored home to beat Belissimo and Kinetics.  “I’m not sure he will want much further than the 1550 metres,” trainer Kris Lees said.  “But he really likes the soft ground and is a nice winter horse.”

Namsarai (6g Fusaichi Pegasus-Great Notice by Nureyev) has now earned over $90,000 – a good return on his $40,000 purchase price at the 2007 Gold Coast Magic Millions when offered by Reavill Farm.  He is a FuPeg half brother to Kiwi G1 winner Anabandana and LR Gimcrack Stakes winner Gybe.

Their dam Great Notice is a sister to the dam of star New Zealand filly King’s Rose.  A Stratum – Great Notice filly foal topped this year’s Magic Millions National Weanling Sale at $220,000.
