Casino Prince and Husson transfer to Vinery

Vinery has bolstered its blueblood stallion roster by successfully securing last year’s Champion first-season sire Casino Prince and the leading first-season sire of winners Husson (Arg).

They will stand alongside proven stallions More Than Ready, Testa Rossa, Congrats and Mossman.

Casino Prince is a son of Australian Champion Sire Flying Spur and was a Group winner as a 2YO (G2 AJC Skyline Stakes), 3YO (G3 MVRC Alister Clarke Stakes) before reaching a career-high as a 4YO (G1 Chipping Norton Stakes).

Casino Prince was crowned Champion freshman sire in 2011-12 and that crops has developed even further this season.  As a result, the Vinery newcomer is currently $2.50 million clear of his nearest rival for the second-season title.

Among his first crop stakes winners are multiple Group1 winner All Too Hard who will stand his first season at Vinery this season, G1 South Australian Derby winner Escado, G2 winner Longport and recent G3 winner Sookie.

Husson is a son of Champion sire Hussonet and he was an undefeated Champion 2YO and Miler in Chile.

Imported to Australia in 2008, Husson was rewarded with a stakes winner from his very first Australian runner when daughter Hussousa won the ATC Gimcrack Stakes.  He was represented with a further 10 individual winners in that first season and was Champion First Season Sire by winners for the 2011-12 season.

Peron became his 8th individual stakes winner from just two crops of racing age when she won the LR Gai Waterhouse Classic in Queensland.

“Both Stallions will add great depth to the Vinery team,” Vinery general manager Peter Orton said.  “Real success can only ever be measured by results on the racetrack and these stallions have clearly demonstrated their capabilities.  They took out both the first-season sire titles in the prizemoney and winners categories.”

“Both stallions have outstanding crops coming through after receiving large books of mares over the past three to four years, including some of the best mares owned by Patinack Farm.”

Casino Prince will stand the 2013 season at a fee of $22,000 (inc gst) while Husson will stand at $16,500 (inc gst).
