Capricornia Yearling Sale avoids floods in Rockhampton

The Capricornia Yearling Sale will go ahead this Sunday, April 1 despite rising flood levels of the Fitzroy River.

Sale coordinator Jeff Leaver said a quality draft of 74 yearlings are at the Rockhampton Showgrounds ready to be sold.  “There are over 50 QTIS eligible yearlings from leading sires,” Leaver said.  “And there’s also a good number of BOBS eligible yearlings by Patinack stallions Murtajill and Wonderful World.”

Based on current information from the Local Disaster Management Group, Rockhampton Airport is not expected to be impacted by the flooding of the Fitzroy River.

The Rockhampton Jockey Club has abandoned the sale-linked meeting set down for this Saturday, March 31.  The feature races – Capricornia Sales Classic and the Capricornia Sales Championship – have been transferred to the Rockhampton program on Thursday, April 5.

The Calcutta Dinner scheduled to be held at the Cambridge Hotel on Friday, March 30 has been cancelled.  Capricornia Yearling Sale catalogues are on line at www.cqtba.com
