Brother to So You Think withdrawn from Easter Sale

Inglis has announced the brother to So You Think has been withdrawn from the Easter yearling sale.  He has been taken out on vet’s advice due to suspected wobbler syndrome.

Catalogued as Lot 436, the High Chaparral – Triassic colt was part of the Willow Park draft and was scheduled to sell next Thursday, April 12.

“It is devastating news for his owners Mike Moran and Cecile Smith, as well as my staff who had done an exceptional job in preparing the colt for the sale,” Willow Park proprietor Glenn Burrows said.  “It is still hard to fathom that a few days ago he was parading perfectly and yet here we are today having to withdraw him from sale.”

One of the treating veterinarians, Dr Angus Adkins of Scone Equine Hospital, said that the condition often presents as a yearling.  It is a developmental condition that is often progressive and his future is in doubt.

Meanwhile, So You Think has returned to Coolmore Stud’s Ballydoyle base from Dubai in readiness to recapture the form that saw him win all bar one of his five starts from May to September last year.

His only defeat came in the G1 Prince of Wales Stakes when committed a long way from home by Ryan Moore at Royal Ascot.  The NZ bred star was left wide open for a counter assault and Frankie Dettori was only too happy to oblige on Godolphin galloper Rewilding.

So You Think stayed in training for the Arc de Triomphe (fourth) and British Champion Stakes (second) in October and the Breeders’ Cup Classic (sixth) in November.  He was back in harness for the Dubai World Cup last Saturday but finished a well-beaten fourth.
