Brilliant debut winner by Tanabota

Woodwinds Farm stallion Tanabota moved off the mark with a brilliant debut winner at Sunshine Coast on Sunday.

Tahoe City (3g Tanabota – Les Jeux D’Esprit by Mind Games) made short work of his rivals scoring by 8 lengths in the Brisbane Brothers RLFC Maiden (1000m).  Trained locally by Bob Wilson, the gelding is a homebred for the O’Connor family.

Tanabota became the second sire son of Redoute’s Choice to open his account on Sunday.  NSW based stallion Supreme Class also broke through when his first starter Supreme Lyne scored at Corowa.

Owners Rebecca and Shannon Bates transferred Woodwinds from the Numinbah Valley to Beaudesert three years ago.  The stud is based on the banks of the Albert River and is now known as Woodwinds@Benwrrin.

Tanabota won on debut at Geelong as a spring two year-old but was retired after just three starts.  He is a three-quarter brother to the dam of Group 1 winning filly Headway and is a magnificent individual – he was champion colt at the 2008 Brisbane Royal Show.

Woodwinds stands him for a $3,300 (inc gst) service fee alongside Australian bred Giant’s Causeway stallion Love De Cause.
