Bradbury’s Luck filly targets spring carnival

Bradbury’s Luck is on the front-cover of the TBQA Stallions Book that was mailed to breeders last week and he chimed in with two milestones on Saturday.

The Glenlogan Park resident sired She Can Skate to a Listed victory in the $120,000 A R Creswick Stakes at Flemington before Fascia posted his 300th Australian win at Cairns.

His consistent mare Skating On Ice made it 301 later in the day on the Gold Coast.

She Can Skate (3f Bradbury’s Luck – Caniona by Canny Lad) jumped straight to the front down the straight course and did best in a blanket finish at headquarters.  “She was my first city winner last month,” trainer Geoff Wheeler said.  “Now she has given me a stakes win as well.  It’s amazing!”

Ridden by Wheeler’s son Reece in, the filly will now be aimed at the Victorian spring carnival.  “She’s high quality,” Wheeler snr added after the narrow victory.  “We will probably give her one more run and then take on the best in the spring.

She Can Skate is from a winning daughter of LR Morphettville Plate winner Catriona (Bellotto).  “I think she is up to the carnival,” Wheeler predicted.  “I’m sure she will only get better as she matures.”

Bradbury’s Luck (Redoute’s Choice) won the 2005 Magic Millions 2YO Classic before retiring to Glenlogan Park the following year.  He has sired 126 individual winners (5 SW) at a 64% strike-rate.

His top-class mare Fire Up Fifi won the LR Spear Chief Hcp at Eagle Farm last month and was fourth home in the G2 Dane Ripper Stakes there on Saturday.  The G1 Tatts Tiara on June 22 is next on her agenda.

Glenlogan Park has upped the fee for Bradbury’s Luck to $12,100 (inc gst) this year.
