Bold Bids for yearlings by Equiano

Two yearlings by Swettenham Stud shuttler Equiano made 75,000gns when Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Sale wrapped up on Wednesday.

His colt out of Bold Bidder (Indesatchel) and filly from Mina (Selkirk) both made the equivalent of AUD 143,950.

Musley Bank trainer Richard Fahey had last say for the Bold Bidder colt.  He prepared Equiano’s first winner when Moving Melody scored on debut at Newcastle in April and the stable struck again thanks to Equiano filly Ventura Shadow in the Haylin Stakes at York in July.

Fahey’s latest addition is the first foal of precocious filly Bold Bidder who won juvenile sprints at Carlisle and Musselburgh before missing a hat-trick when runner up in the Weatherbys Super Sprint at Newbury.

It’s the family of brilliant sprinter Mind Games.  He put Bearstone Stud on the map after Group 2 victories in the Temple Stakes at Sandown as well as Group 3 wins at Royal Ascot and Newmarket before shuttling to Roseneath Stud in NSW.

The Equiano – Mina filly is a half-sister to Minalisa (Oasis Dream), a Listed winner of the Sweet Mimosa Stakes at Naas in July.  She was also runner-up in the Ayr Gold Cup on September 20.

Sheikh Hamdan’s Shadwell Estates bought the filly who is also related to Coolmore Stud colt Dick Whittington.  He was last seen landing the G1 Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh.
