Birchley firing for Greenvale Park

Wishart’s first winner Birchley was on the mark again in the Sitzler Hcp (1000m) at Fannie Bay on Sunday.  The Darwin based sprinter is trained by Gary Clarke and he saluted as a $1.50 favourite.

Birchley (3g Wishart – Queen Latif by Nothin’ Leica Dane) was a $5,000 buy from Greenvale Park at the 2010 Brisbane Bloodstock yearling sale.  His dam Queen Latif was placed twice at Eagle Farm from just four starts before retiring to stud in 2005.

Wishart is based at Greenvale Park in the heart of Queensland’s Darling Downs at East Greenmount.  Owners Stephen Lamb and Helen Quast stand him alongside Court Courting (NZ).

A tough and durable racehorse who won in Brisbane every season from three until seven years-old, he was also stakes placed in a half-dozen Listed events.

Wishart is a son of successful Greenvale Park stallion Pride Of Kellina (Pago Pago) who sired G1 gallopers the calibre of Buck’s Pride and Joss Sticks.  He is available at a $1,650 service fee.

Birchley’s dam Queen Latif has since foaled two colts and a filly by Caught Courting.  He is by Danehill from champion mare Let’s Elope who was accorded her rightful place in the Australian Hall of Fame in Sydney on Friday night.
