Big Oh sire seeks Pretty Women

Larneuk Stud’s Nev Murdoch outlaid $15,000 for a maiden mare at Friday’s Inglis August Sale and minutes got it back when his homebred The Big Oh won at Corowa.

The Big Oh is by Larneuk sire O’Lonhro and he followed up 24 hours after Big Phil won at Sale.  They’ve come hot on the heels of the Cindy Alderson-trained O’Lonera who completed a hat-trick at Caulfield on August 13.

“He’s a great horse and has a really good temperament,” Alderson said after the middle-leg in the VOBIS Gold Stayers (2400m) on July 30.  It was worth $112,500 in prizemoney and Super VOBIS bonuses to the winner’s connections.

Murdoch can expect more calls to O’Lonhro at a $5,500 (inc gst) fee after he kept the winners ticking over with O’Lonh Star at Devonport on Sunday.  “The horse has always shown ability and he impressed me at the trials,” trainer John Keys said after the front-running victory over 1150m.  “He went shin-sore twice earlier this year but has been great this time in.”

Murdoch bought former NSW trained mare She’s A Mod (Dane Shadow) at Oaklands and she will join the Euroa stud which has a current line-up of O’Lonhro (Lonhro), Cluster (Fastnet Rock) and Ilovethiscity (Magic Albert).
