Bhutane Dane – Bred to win – Monday, 5 October 2009

Gai Waterhouse will still be smiling when she arrives at Warwick Farm today after claiming a G1 double at Randwick on Saturday with More Joyous and Rock Kingdom.

Waterhouse has a chance to continue her winning ways today when she saddles up Bhutane Dane in the Vale Ted McCabe Welter (Race 4 at 3pm).

Bhutane Dane (4g Danehill Dancer-Joleur by Bite The Bullet) is the class runner of today’s field and looks extremely tough to beat dropping back from Listed company.  As a three-year old, he won the Listed Heritage and Strada Stakes and was a close up sixth in the MM 3YO Trophy after suffering severe interference with 100m to go.

It would pay to forgive the gelding’s first up run at Rosehill a fortnight ago when he failed to beat a runner home in the Listed Starlight Stakes won by Lucky Secret.  With a lack of genuine speed in the race, Bhutane Dane was never in the hunt despite being well supported in the market.

Bhutane Dane is one of three winners for the lightly raced Joleur, making him a half brother to Listed Baillieu Handicap winner Gaze On (Intergaze) and the stakes placed Rouge Warrior (Choisir).
