Beverly D. beckons Euro Charline

Euro Charline will defend her Group 1 Beverly D Stakes crown after a pleasing second in the G1 Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket.

The Myboycharlie filly was racing first-up since March and trainer Marco Botti said she was far from disgraced when runner-up to Amazing Maria on Friday.  “The race did not pan out how we wanted as she’s definitely happier getting cover and challenging late on.

“But Andrea (Atzeni) said there was no pace and he preferred to have her relaxed.  They all came in a bunch at her, but she kept finding and fighting all the way to the line.”

Euro Charline (4f Myboycharlie – Eurolink Artemis by Common Grounds) is raced by Team Valor and they are keen to have another shot at the G1 Beverly D. Stakes (1900m) at Arlington on August 15.

She created history last year as the first filly to defeat older mares in Chicago.

Botti said the G1 Prix Rothschild (1600m) at Deauville on August 2 is a viable alternative if Euro Charline stays in Europe.  So is the G1 Matron Stakes at Leopardstown on September 12.

Myboycharlie’s Queensland based filly Blueberry Hill is also heading for a Group 1 campaign as a new-season three year-old.

She won the G2 Champagne Classic during the winter carnival and is back in training with Liam Birchley.  The G1 Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill on September 12 is a prime target and, all going well, connections will also consider a trip to Melbourne for the G1 Thousand Guineas (1600m).

Last-start G2 VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes winner Jameka is another Myboycharlie filly being set for the Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield in October.

Vinery will stand Myboycharlie for an $11,000 (inc gst) service fee this year.
