Bell tolls for Mosse

Mosse (NZ) can start the New Year on a Group 1 high when he puts an unbeaten record on the line in the Railway Stakes at Ellerslie.

The O’Reilly gelding is primed for an elite victory after producing a freakish performance to win the G3 Concorde Handicap (1200m) at Ellerslie on Saturday.  Impossibly placed at the top of the straight, he weaved through the entire field to run down Demophon (Howbaddouwantit) and Durham Town (Falkirk) in the last 50 metres.

“That was just unbelievable,” trainer John Bell declared.  “He was in deep trouble on the turn and to see him produce a performance like that was amazing.  He has that x-factor and it’s a real privilege to be training him.”

Mosse (4g O’Reilly – Golden Sparkle by Gold Brose) is unbeaten in five starts after victories at Pukekohe and Taupo before completing a winning hat-trick at Ellerslie on Saturday.  “In time, he will get over ground,” Bell added.  “The way he relaxes makes me think he will get a mile at least.”

Mosse is the 59th stakes winner for Champion Waikato Stud sire O’Reilly.  He cost $200,000 from the Westbury Stud draft at the 2010 NZB Karaka Select Sale and is from an unraced daughter of Listed VRC Vanity Stakes winner Classy Twiggy (Twig Moss).
