Bel Esprit bags another title for Eliza Park International

Eliza Park International champion Bel Esprit successfully defended his Victorian sires’ crown in 2014-15.

He was the star of the  Victorian Thoroughbred Racing Awards held at Crown Melbourne on Sunday night after siring 138 individual winners of 238 races and over $5.66 million in prizemoney.  Group 2 Thousand Guineas Prelude winner Afleet Esprit was his chief earner with $323,450.

Bel Esprit has passed several milestones since taking over from Rubiton as Victoria’s champion stallion.  He equalled the Australian record of 155 individual winners held by Commands in 2012-13.

Bel Esprit regularly sires 100 plus individual per season and his 9 crops have produced the following tally of individual winners; 138 – 154- 155 – 127 – 112 – 93 – 82 – 35 – 9.

Bel Esprit sired his 500th individual winner when Another Girl won an Ipswich maiden on May 20.

Bel Esprit sired world-champion mare Black Caviar who stands alone as the greatest galloper ever bred in Australia.

Bel Esprit won this year’s title from three other Victorian-based sires who passed the $5 million mark – Reset ($5.16m), Magnus ($5.14m) and Written Tycoon ($5.08m).
