Redoute’s Choice colt Future Shock was touted an early winner after a strong hit-out at Kensington last month and he duly delivered on debut at Wyong on Thursday.
Future Shock (3c Redoute’s Choice – Surprize Surprize by Prized) scored a determined on-pace victory in the Pro Ali Design Maiden Plate (1100m). He clocked 62.94s on a Dead 4 to better the previous record held by Mrs Onassis.
“Potentially, he’s top class,” winning jockey Corey Brown said. “He’s still learning but will be a really nice horse once he puts it all together.”
Future Shock is prepared by Bart Cummings for a syndicate that includes Wilf and Rosemary Mula who also raced 2009 AJC Derby winner Roman Emperor with the master trainer.
Bart bought him for $460,000 from Lyndhurst Farm at the 2010 NZB Karaka Sale. His dam Surprize Surprize won 8 races including the G1 NZ Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes at Te Aroha.
Arrowfield champion Redoute’s Choice has sired 39 individual three year-olds winners in Australia so far this season. His best mark in that division is 64 winners set in 2008-09.
