Husson Lightning flyer Grey Cheval is making every post a winner on her way to the Perth Magic Millions 3YO Trophy on February 16.
Resuming after an early-season double in August, the highly-regarded filly extended her unbeaten run to three on end in the Crown Perth Hcp (1000m) at Ascot on Saturday.
Grey Cheval (3f Husson Lightning – Solange by Surtee) is developing into a bargain buy for trainer Simon Miller after selling for just $9,000 at the 2011 Perth Autumn Magic Millions. Her front-running hat-trick has netted $115,000 in prizemoney and there’s another profitable pay-day ahead if she stretches out to 1400m next month.
“She’s a natural jump and run filly and is stronger since a spell,” stable foreman Michael White said. “She had been going really well at home and we expected her to win first-up.”
Grey Cheval has a pedigree that suggests she will get the extra distance of the Magic Millions. Her older half-brother Statewide (State City) has won five races up to 1800m and their dam Solange also won five times up to 1650m in Perth.
Husson Lightning currently leads the Sunspeed second-season premiership with 9 individual winners of $281,000. He stands at Heytesbury Stud and is priced at $5,500 (inc gst) a cover.
Hussonet has three sire sons prominent at the top-end of the Australian second-season table. Patinack stallion Husson (4th) heads the trio followed by Host (7th) and Husson Lightning (11th).
Cornerstone Stud’s G1 winning Hussonet sire Reaan is fourth on the first-season ladder behind Real Saga, Sebring and Northern Meteor.
