Alwyn Park sire Trade Fair lost his flag-bearer for the rest of year after Moonstone Magic suffered a fractured pelvis on Friday. Trainer Ralph Beckett reported the filly was injured during a workout at his Kimpton Down gallops in Hampshire.
Moonstone Magic (3f Trade Fair – Woodcock Moon by Kyllachy) is a homebred for Lady Marchwood. She bolted in by 8 lengths on debut in April and then claimed the G3 Fred Darling Stakes by 4 lengths at Newbury week later.
Apart from the bad tidings out of Beckett’s yard, Trade Fair enjoyed an exceptional week starting with a winning double at Northam last Thursday courtesy of Stock Trader and Grand Crusade.
Fair Hunter bought up a hat-trick at Belmont Park on Saturday and the winning run continued when Night Trade was successful for the sixth time in England on Tuesday.
A Juddmonte homebred, Trade Fair won at Group 3 level in the Criterion Stakes at Newmarket in addition to a Group 1 placing in the Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket.
Trade Fair (Zafonic) stands for a $4,950 (inc gst) service fee at Alwyn Park and he’s just one away from cracking the 100 winner milestone.
