Average declines at the Brisbane Bloodstock Sale

Buyers searching for a bargain were well catered for at the Brisbane Bloodstock yearling sale on Sunday.

A total of 104 lots averaged $7,716 at the Brisbane Showgrounds.  That was down from the 2012 average of $8,177

Top price of $31,000 was paid for the Statue of Liberty colt from Espuela (Flying Spur).  Thoroughbred International offered the sale-topper who was purchased by trainer John Fitzgerald.  He is a half-brother to minor winners Tobouggie With You (Tobougg) and Zastabelle (Benicio).

Next best was the Gainsborough Lodge colt by Sequalo from Casanova’s Girl that made $28,000.  His older brother Gianova was placed at Clifton and Roma earlier this season.
