Buyers searching for a bargain were well catered for at the Brisbane Bloodstock yearling sale on Sunday.
A total of 104 lots averaged $7,716 at the Brisbane Showgrounds. That was down from the 2012 average of $8,177
Top price of $31,000 was paid for the Statue of Liberty colt from Espuela (Flying Spur). Thoroughbred International offered the sale-topper who was purchased by trainer John Fitzgerald. He is a half-brother to minor winners Tobouggie With You (Tobougg) and Zastabelle (Benicio).
Next best was the Gainsborough Lodge colt by Sequalo from Casanova’s Girl that made $28,000. His older brother Gianova was placed at Clifton and Roma earlier this season.
