Australian first for Lincoln Farm shuttler

Lincoln Farm shuttler Ready’s Image doubled up on Sunday with his first winner in Australia and another stakes winner in the USA.

Trainer Nick Olive produced Akoonah to defeat older horses on her debut in the Samarkos Earthmoving Plate at Queanbeyan.

Akoonah (2f Ready’s Image – Cathead by Catbird) raced on the pace and got the better of pacemaker Zero De Brave after a duel in the final furlong.  She clocked 51.79s for the 900 metre journey which was only 0.05s outside the class record.

Akoonah is the first foal out of a winning half-sister to the stakes winners Touch Of Mahogany (LR VATC Rancher Hcp) and Lifeline Express (G3 HK Juvenile Sprint Trophy).

She failed to reach a $25,000 reserve at the 2012 Inglis Classic Sale when offered by Greg White of Invermien Stud.  The filly was then retained to race by the White and Robertson families.

Ready’s Image had his first Kentucky-bred two year-olds race last year and now has 15 winners of 21 races.

Leading the way among his North American gallopers is Leinan.  The Josie Carroll trained filly won the LR Glorious Song Stakes at Woodbine in November and added the LR Inaugural Stakes (1200m) at Presque Isle Downs on Sunday.

Leinan (3f Ready’s Image – Golden Mirage by Green Desert) claimed the $100,000 feature by five lengths on the shores of Lake Erie in Pennsylvania.  She cost $80,000 at the 2011 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky yearling sale and has now banked $240,000 for owners James and Alice Sapara.

Ready’s Image (More Than Ready) shuttles to Lincoln Farm in the Upper Hunter from Walmac Farm for a $5,500 (inc gst) service fee.
